This year at NAMM we were fortunate enough to meet guitar builder, Nick Pourfard from San Francisco, CA. I have been playing guitar for a long time and consider myself a gear nerd, but had never heard of his product. His company Prisma builds premium guitars out of recycled skateboard decks!
Many people think that skateboards are made from plywood… The truth is they are manufactured from exotic woods like hard rock maple. This is the perfect specie for a premium guitar. Nick draws the inspiration and direction for each piece, from the colors that begin to come through during the reclaiming process. Once the patterns and colors show their character, he decides which route to take from there. As a result, the individual aesthetic of one guitar is never the same as the next.
If you were not sold when I told you these guitars are American made from recycled materials you should try playing one. They sound incredible and are complimented with the finest hardware. Lastly, Nick describes this business as his outlet to do something he is passionate about. Rarely do people get to combine what they love with what they do, so we toast to this.
P.S. The picture above features our Seafoam ESO Strap :)
